I go into every Glee episode intending to suspend disbelief and appreciate the art. My goal isn’t to write a post on every single episode. I aspire to skip raging about one soon.

Despite my intentions, Season 1 Episode 5, “The Rhodes Not Taken” begs to be written about.

Kristin Chenoweth guest stars as April Rhodes, an alcoholic who peaked in McKinley High School’s glee club but was three credits short of graduating.

Will (Matthew Morrison) gets the idea to invite her to join the New Directions to fill Rachel’s (Lea Michele) spot. He also wants to help her get her diploma. Her stunning talent would also help New Directions win regionals or sectionals or whatever contest is up next.
